Last day of shooting

For our last shot we needed Swarica running down a long hall way, the one we chose was in the middle of the college and is always very busy so we therefore needed to do it at a time that was suitable to avoid interference. Below are some back stage photos.

Update

This week we focused on getting our magazines and posters finished. We had booked a camera for our next lesson. Once we had that media lesson we went into the classroom to use the blue screen and took pictures of Thuy.

Here are some of the pictures we took

After we had taken the photos, I(Andy) would open the chosen picture into photoshop and then started making either a poster or magzaine.

Inspiration for our trailer - Scary Little Girls

Before we came up with the story line and plot for our trailer we first looked into other movies we had seen and drew up some ideas from them. We came to the conclusion that we wanted to do a supernatural thriller which involved a young girl murdering people in a college library because she died with a grudge. The first movies that came to mind were The Ring and The Grudge, two very popular and famous movies for the use of two scary young girls with long black hair and a white dress. We decided that in order for our trailer to be a success and to help the audience relate we made our own scary little girl in a white dress too.

Below are images of The Grudge Girl and The Ring Girl.

The 'scary little girl' movies such as the two mentioned above and others like R
osemary's baby, The Exorcist, The Shining and The Orphan. Generally the girls are of a relatively young age, and are either ghosts or being possessed by one. Why little girls are scary, you can't pinpoint but I believe that it is because when you see a little girl you think of them as being innocent and sweet, however in these movies they take on completely
different roles. Also children are frightening in the sense that you don't know what they are capable of and how far they would go, and when they do how beyond our expectations would it exceed?

Equipment: Purposes and costs

While filming our teaser trailer, we were abole to use three main pieces of equipment:

1. Camera

A camera is a device that records and stores images. A typical movie camera continously takes 24 film frames per second.

The model of camera which we used was a Canon...

2. Lights

Lighting is necessary to create an image exposure on a frame of film. The main purposes are:

a) Clarity of image. Viewers must be able to discern all of the important elements in a frame e.g. facial expressions, physical gestures, significant props, etc.

b) Atmosphere/Emotional effect. Lighting also contributes to the emotional response an audience has when watching the motion picture. It is a significant element of mise-en-scene.

3. A Tripod

Tripod generally refers to a three-legged object used as a platform. It prevents camera movement and provides stability. It is useful in achieving precise framing of the image. The head of the tripod allows free flowing movement.

Recording Sound

Me and Andy recorded various sounds around the college to go hand in hand with some of the shots we had, such as the light switch which you can't hear when we recorded it, and Swarika writing. We used a zoom mic H2 handy recorder.
Andy writing and me recording.

Some problems we encountered when recording included finding a door that would have a good creaking noise when opening or closing, using a room that would have a minimal amount of noise around us so it would not interfere with our own recording, and also making sure the sound would last the amount it would need to when we put it in sync with the moving image.
